Conference confirms Sage Grouse population decline - Conservations attending the High Desert Conference hosted by the Oregon Natural Desert Associate met to express their concern for the future of the sage grouse through the western United States and Canada.  Discussion of the environmental community's role in sage grouse conservation was hindered by our lack of understanding of the sage grouse and its habitat requirements.

Organizations sue to list Gunnison Sage Grouse - The American Lands Alliance and a coalition of conservation and scientific organizations filed a petition with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list the Gunnison sage grouse as endangered.  The Gunnison sage grouse is a distinct, but as yet unnamed species.  The American Ornithological Union is expected to declare the Gunnison a new species.
