Hypothesis: If birds need protection from hawks and owls, then there should be more using feeders in areas providing shelter.
Materials used: 3 platform feeders, striped sunflower seeds, balance scales, plastic bags
Experiment Design: 1. Feeders were placed in three locations on the school ground, one near trees, one near bushes (no trees) and one in the open. 2. Feeders were filled at 9:00 every morning. 3. Leftover food was collected at 1:00 every afternoon. 4. Leftover food was weighed from each feeder. 5. Data was recorded.
