The Children’s Discovery Room at The Museum of Idaho is fast becoming “the coolest place ever” as one young visitor put it. Children have a multitude of learning opportunities within the two rooms that recreate parts of the natural and cultural history of Idaho. The Discovery Room has proven to be a valuable asset to the community, the museum, and mostly to our youth.
The Museum of Idaho is pleased to announce the formation of a special docent organization dedicated to keeping the Children’s Discovery Room safe, informative, and vibrant. As members of this docent group, volunteers will receive special training unique to the Children’s Room. Discovery room docents will have in depth knowledge of the room and all it has to offer children in order to engage visitors and help to make their experience more valuable. This special docent group will serve the Discovery Room exclusively; their knowledge and repore with children will be the key to making the Children’s Discovery Room the most valuable educational destination in the valley.

In addition, the Discovery Room docents will be encouraged to offer ideas and suggestions and participate in special events such as Saturday activities, summer programs, and exhibit planning.
If you have the skills to work with children in a hands on learning environment, enjoy creative planning, and wish to be a part of the dynamic group of people at the Museum of Idaho, then the Children’s Discovery Room Docent organization is just the thing for you. The Museum of Idaho is now taking applications for volunteers interested in this opportunity. Please contact
