Wondering what's going on with EE Certification in Idaho?
Come to learn about the development
of an EE Certification program in Oregon, the new Accreditation of
EE Certification Programs by NAAEE, and provide input on the
development of a voluntary, statewide certification program for
professional environmental educators in Idaho.
WHO: IdEEA members and
stakeholders are leading the planning and development process for an
EE Certification program in Idaho. We need input from the following
stakeholder groups:

formal educators such as K-12
teachers, teacher educators and discipline specific higher
education faculty,
-
representatives from statewide
agencies,
-
representatives from industry, and
-
nonformal educators ranging from
outdoor school instructors, nature center staff to museum and
zoo staff.

Guidelines for Excellence
Workshop
What?
A workshop to introduce participants to the North American
Association for Environmental Education’s Guidelines For Excellence
in Environmental Education. The Guidelines offer a set of tools for
developing and implementing high-quality environmental education
materials and programs.
Workshop Objectives:

To identify and develop high-quality
environmental education materials and programs that fit my needs.
-
To identify skills and background needed
to develop quality materials and conduct quality environmental
education programs.
-
To understand the process by which the
National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education series
developed these tools.
Who should attend?
Teachers, nonformal educators, administrators, and program
developers concerned about being able to show the high-quality of
environmental education materials and programs they use with their
learners.
What do I need to bring?
-
An example of an environmental
education resource you think is excellent.
-
An environmental education resource
(e.g., a lesson plan or activity) that you use or have
developed. You will use this resource to practice reviewing
materials according to the guidelines.
What do I get?
Each participant will receive a set of the Guidelines For
Excellence publications: Environmental Education Materials:
Guidelines for Excellence, Excellence in Environmental Education –
Guidelines for Learning (Pre K-12), Nonformal Environmental
Education Programs –Guidelines for Excellence, and Guidelines for
the Preparation and Professional Development of Environmental
Educators.
When: Wednesday, October 1, 2008,
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (with one-hour lunch break)
