Community Monitoring Stations

Community Monitoring Stations (CMS) are located at Mountain View Middle School in Blackfoot, Idaho, and Madison Middle School in Rexburg, Idaho.  These stations, operated by members of the community, consist of air and radiation monitors and meteorological equipment.  The stations serve two purposes:

  • Data displays at the stations allow the public to view the weather and radiation records of their own community within Stoller's environmental surveillance program.
  • Data  is used as an education tool for the local schools.  Data generated by the stations is accessed through the school's local area network and used in the science classroom.

Meteorological equipment at the stations are maintained by NOAA and the data from the stations is displayed on the NOAA website.
