The ESER Program, in conjunction with the Department of Energy-Idaho Operations
Office and the City of Idaho Falls, is sponsoring a GPS/GIS competition for Idaho school students. We invite your school to enter one four-student team. This competition is aimed at encouraging students of all ages to become involved in applying Global Positioning System
(GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in specific real-world applications.
Students participating in the GPS
competition will need to know the basics of GPS, how to collect
data, and how to correct the data using differential
correction. Trimble GeoExplorer 3's will be used for the
competition.
WHEN: Saturday, May 10, 2002. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. We should be finished at 3:00 p.m.
WHERE: Teams will meet at the S. M. Stoller Office, 1780 First Street, Idaho Falls.
GPS Units: Trimble GeoExplorer 3's will be provided
upon request.
LUNCH: Lunch will be provided for participating students and teachers.
PRIZES: Prizes will be provided by ESRI, Trimble, and ESER.
REGISTRATION: There are no registration fees.
